A Small Family in a Small House in a Small Town

Welcome! This blog is the story of us. Husband, me, Princess, Music Man and Funny Girl. We love life, we love God, we love to eat, and we love to play. We live a simple life by most people's standards, and we're happy with that! Husband teaches, and I stay home full-time to raise our children, care for our home, and spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

And as for our house?

It's just a little bungalow. Not tiny, but barely big enough for the five of us. Three smallish bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, and thank goodness for the finished basement! Kids need a place to run around, even when the weather is lousy, and at least they can burn off some energy downstairs.

Our lawn is a weed sanctuary
I struggle with our home sometimes. It's not big. It's not fancy. It's pretty average. I frequently daydream about winning a ton of money and buying something bigger. Our home is cluttered, and almost always untidy. A bigger home, I often think, would have enough space for all our stuff so it would just make life so much easier!

But that's silly, isn't it?

I'm trying to re-train my way of thinking. Instead of spending mental energy dreaming of how a bigger home would solve all my problems, I'll spend that energy coming up with solutions for making my small space work better for us. Rather than drooling over Pinterest boards for hours on end, I'll use that time to thoroughly declutter and organize our space.

I want this blog to be about my attempts at improving our, well, everything. Mainly because I'm pretty bad at keeping up with just about everything! I have so much to do! I need to improve my skills in the kitchen, my efforts at maintaining a level of order in our home, my commitment to fitness and healthy food, my prayer life (and our family's spiritual life), crafting, personal style, educating my children... As you can see, it's a big list. I often find inspiration from those I'm-amazing-at-everything bloggers, but I will never be one of them. I hope you'll read along with me, and perhaps find some consolation in knowing when it comes to not having it all together, you're not alone!
